Front Assist with City Emergency Braking¹

Stop you in your tracks.

Using a radar sensor, Front Assist detects a possible collision with the vehicle in front. It will warn you and prepare the car for braking. If nothing changes, it applies the braking giving you a better chance of avoiding or minimising a collision. When you’re travelling below 30km/h, City Emergency Braking will prepare the braking if a collision is likely. If the driver doesn’t brake, the system will do it automatically.

Driver Fatigue Detection

Stop you in your tracks.

This standard potentially life-saving system continually evaluates steering movements and other independent signals, and if fatigue is detected, warns the driver with an alarm, and recommends the driver take a break on the Multi-Function display.

Multi-Collision Brake

Lessen the impact.

When two independent sensors detect a collision, this state-of-the-art system applies the brakes to slow down the vehicle so that a secondary impact will be lessened or avoided. During braking, the hazard and brake lights are illuminated and remain activated. The driver can take over at any time.

Hill Hold Assist

It’s all uphill from here, in a good way.

This intelligent standard feature allows you to make a hill start without the vehicle rolling back. If you’re on an incline greater than 5 per cent, the system will hold your car stationary for 1.5 seconds after the foot brake is released by temporarily locking the brake pressure.

Crosswind Assist

This won’t blow you away.

Crosswind is a standard sub-function of the Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) that helps dealing with high crosswinds by automatically activating the brakes if needed and keeping you in the lane.

Whether reversing out of a busy parking lot or trying to squeeze into a tricky spot, an extra set of eyes is always handy. The Rear-View Camera displays a live picture on your screen that shows what’s behind you and static guidance lines, which all come together to make reversing safer and easier.

The new Crafter has been designed and engineered 100% by Volkswagen and is quickly becoming the new benchmark in vans for its smarts, practicality, comfort, safety, and engineering. In addition, the new Crafter is constructed in a new, purpose-built factory to ensure the highest standards of build quality and finish.

3-seat Capacity

Fits three hefty units.

Comfy and spacious interior for the team. The newly designed driver seat comes with longitudinal and height adjustment, electrical 4-way adjustable lumbar support, adjustable backrest and seat cushion angle as well as two adjustable armrests. In conjunction with the height and reach adjustable steering wheel, this allows the driver to sit comfortably. And the 2-seater front passenger bench also offers generous storage under the seat as well as additional work space via the folding storage tray with two cup holders. This can be upgraded to the AGR certified ergoActive seat with suspension and a massage function.

The new Crafter Van comes in two different wheelbases, each offering a different standard vehicle height. The medium wheelbase (3,450mm) has a total vehicle length of 5,986mm and an external height of 2,355mm or optionally available 2,590mm. The long wheelbase (4,490mm) has a total vehicle length of 6,836 mm, with the standard height roof of 2,590mm which can be changed to 2,798mm with the super-high roof.

Loadability

Ready for any business.

The roomy new Crafter’s wide sliding doors open up to 1,311mm, with a load compartment height of up to 1,916mm. The Long wheelbase models have the space to accommodate six Euro pallets, and the medium wheelbase can handle four pallets.

Volume

Packs more than an esky in summer.

The new Crafter offers a load capacity of 9.9m3, with a 1,417kg payload (MWB standard roof TDI40 manual)†, or 14.4m3 with a 1,274 kg payload (LWB high roof TDI410 manual)†, while the wide sliding door on the passenger’s side easily allows access for a pallet. It has rear barn doors opening 180 degrees for greater convenience when loading, which can up upgraded to extend 270 degrees.

Fix and Fasten

Secure your cargo.

With the 10 lashing rings recessed into the floor in a medium wheelbase and 12 rings in a long wheelbase you can trust that your load is securely stowed in the new Crafter.

Universal Floor

This will floor you.

The optional Universal Floor has been designed in conjunction with leading shelving suppliers. It is the ideal base for retrofitting shelving and cupboard systems available from a range of manufacturers. Special adapters enable cupboard systems to be easily fastened using the notches. Longitudinal and transverse lashing rails are available.

Side trim

On your side.

There are two different side trims optionally available – half height and full height. The load compartment cladding is made of plastic hollow chamber panels and is especially robust. It’s fitted from the floor to the roof frame and is exceptionally easy to clean. Or choose the optional 5mm thick plywood panels, which is highly durable and makes the side cladding especially resistant to impacts.
